[dt. »Verschmelzen von Briefen«] (Serienbrieffunktion), Funktion in einem Anwendungsprogramm (Textverarbeitung oder Datenbankprogramm), mit dem man aus einem Text Serienbriefe erzeugen kann. Die Briefe werden dabei mit den Adressen aus einer Adressdatei verbunden. Ursprünglich bezeichnete »Mailmerge« ein Zusatzprogramm zu dem Textverarbeitungsprogramm WordStar, das diese Funktion erfüllte. Heute wird der Begriff auch in anderen Programmen benutzt.
